It is January, but it feels like April. I’m weaving with my Alpaca homespun yarns…with a fan directed at the loom. So am I complaining? These balmy days are a treasure, and yet they are surreal. One part of my brain says “Relax and enjoy the beautiful NW Arkansas weather. Go with it.” While another part says, “I don’t care. It just isn’t right. The daffodils in Siloam Springs are pushing up through the leaves in late January.”
If you don’t have similar conversations within your brain, I may have artfully identified myself as a wacko. Wacko, another job to add to my growing list. I’ve spent my life as a musician/songwriter, recording artist, bean counter, traveller, newsletter publisher, spinner, weaver, knitter, performer, teacher, zoologist, wife, recluse…and now author. Life zips by so quickly, I’m delighted by the variety and intensity of my experiences. All things around and within me keep changing, while the braver voice in my imagination says, “This is great. I’ll race you”.
This beautifully functional website has been a long time dream. Not just a presence, but a portal, a way to share wishes, philosophical doodah, and events. If it is just self-serving, the blog will sit in “time out” in the big blog-o-sphere, shunned and taking up space. I promise not to post when I brush my teeth, although being life partners with one who practices dentistry, it is tempting. Some minutia turns into a permenant record of the day to day of our culture, but what I find interesting is the individual and how individuals find each other for larger purposes.
It’s days from February, when I have scheduled my “first” book signings ever. Do I have a clue? Not really. I love the book and the living and the years of writing that went into it. How one converts that to phrases that a stranger might find intriguing… I don’t know.
If you have friends in NW Arkansas here’s the schedule. Please come by to visit, not just purchase. I miss the community of friends and “family” from the touring days.
